History

The Startup Foundation is a Finnish foundation founded in 2012, with the purpose of enabling the creation, growth and internationalization of Finnish startups and to promote entrepreneurship and an entrepreneur-friendly atmosphere.

The Foundation was founded by 57 individuals, each of whom contributed to the foundation’s base capital. Since 2012, the Startup Foundation has grown into the center of the Finnish startup ecosystem with the growth of startup event Slush, the startup campus Maria01, the Junction hackathon, The Shortcut, and the VC fund Wave Ventures.
